Dear Friends…behold my beautiful desk! I have decided that the time has come to cease working from a Macbook propped on my bed and allow myself a proper desk, given that I am about to spend inordinate hours editing videos and generally doing all the less-than-exciting administrative stuff that I need to do to keep my artistic ‘show on the road’…
My new desk comes with a story, of course - it used to be in my Father’s office in the 1980s and 1990s (I remember sitting at this desk as a child, playing with an electronic calculator and a 1990s Mac Classic computer, thinking it was the most exciting thing imaginable and that I couldn’t wait to grow up and have 'all this', all to myself). Well, Folks, my little childhood dream has now come true, as Dad has restored the desk and given it to me, where it will now stay in my studio….obviously I am writing at it now. The desk was also hand-delivered and installed by my Father, a nerve-wracking enterprise that included taking my studio door off the hinges and eventually taking the lid off the desk using the-only-screwdriver-I-own in order to get it in to the room. Anyway, eventually we got there. Thanks, Dad.
A week or so ago, I shared the below photograph from 29.01.14, the day we shot the piano scenes for my Butterflies video (if you haven’t seen it already it is here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VAaKPe2iIQ )
It’s a nice reminder that I have made some art I am proud of...I am excited to be in the process of making more. Thank you to everyone who has been part of my artistic journey so far, may there be many exciting and gratifying creative adventures ahead.
